Mother of the Bride by Jan

Another Monday in our Nottingham City Centre boutique and my first bride of the day arrives at 10.30am. Sally is a second marriage bride accompanied by her two lovely friends. They are all very nervous and a little bit worried about finding the perfect wedding dress for her special day. We have an informal chat about the venue and discuss any worries or concerns, over a cup of coffee. I begin to understand how Sally would like to look on her wedding day and how we can find the wedding dress that she looks good, and feels fabulous in. I escort the wedding party to look at our wonderful range of wedding dresses and Sally begins to choose the ones she feels she would like to try on. We talk about the fabrics, silk, lace, organza and tulle. We talk about the styles, and shapes which would suit her, and the neckline and colour to find the perfect wedding dress for my bride. Sally chooses seven possible wedding dresses, and we begin the process of trying them on, one at time, taking on board the comments from her friends on fit and shape. Everyone is relaxed and happy and we begin to use accessories to turn Sally into a bride who feels confident. Wearing a small veil and a very subtle tiara, we pop on dress number five, a lovely organza dress by Veromia, with a ruched bodice and lace–up back. I can tell by Sally’s face in the mirror that she loves it the moment we start to tie the laces at the back. Her friends are waiting to see her in the wedding dress. They can hear us talking behind the curtain about how much she loves how she feels in the wedding dress. It makes her figure look amazing and she feels it is very age appropriate. When we pull back the curtains to reveal to her friends, they gasp with joy and Sally’s face is one big smile. Wow you look fantastic Sally. Another very happy bride, one of many we have in DressPlace.
